On February 27, 2017 the second, CO-LAB country workshop was held at PH Vienna to discuss the implementation of "Collaborative Learning and Assessment" in the classroom.

Participants at the workshop were welcomed on behalf of PH Wien by Institute Director Walter Swoboda (IBS), on behalf of the Austrian Ministry for Education (BMB), Department Head Martin Bauer and on behalf of European Schoolnet (EUN), the coordinator of the Commission’s Erasmus+ CO-LAB project, Dorothy Cassells.

This workshop was an intensive exchange of experience on innovative and collaborative learning from different perspectives - from the perspective of practitioners (how collaborative projects can be used and evaluated in class), and from the perspective of policymakers - authority school management and teacher training colleges (how can collaborative learning at school as well as in teacher training and advanced training be supported).

It was discussed in two working groups. The group of policymakers was moderated by AL Martin Bauer and MinR Karl Lehner (BMB).  The group of practitioners was moderated by Hermann Morgenbesser. The results of both groups were followed by Bernhard Racz, the national project manager of CO-LAB project, and Petra Szucsich (PH), who then summarized the discussions in the plenary.

The workshop also included the presentation of Reinhard Bauer (PH) on "Peer Assessment via Social Video Learning".  The second half of the workshop also focused on innovative learning in the newly established Education Innovation Studio (EIS) and the planned Future Learning Lab (FLL) of the PH Wien. Michael Steiner (PH) presented to first didactic concepts. Hermann Morgenbesser, a teacher at AHS Klosterneuburg, was represented by a group of students who presented their projects at different stations of a station operation.

Thus, the participants of the workshop were able to get a first impression of the collaborative projects in the new studios. The final event offered simultaneously a foretaste of the eBazar PH Vienna , where it will be presented in a similar form in two weeks, when Education Minister Hammerschmid will be guest at the PH Wien. The results of the workshop and the findings of the CO-LAB Working Group Austria will be presented on 21 March 2017 by Bernhard Racz, in Brussels.
